Stronger Together

Ibolya Grossman was born in Pecs, Hungary in 2016. Ibolya and her husband, Zoltan, had a son in 1942 named Andy. However, 4 months later, Zoltan was drafted into the forced labour service of the Hungarian army. Ibolya was left alone with Andy, but Andy was what gave her a reason to fight. After the war, Ibolya was arrested by the Communist regime in Hungary when she was trying to escape. On her second attempt to escape, she succeeded and Ibolya and Andy safely immigrated to Canada in 1957. Stronger Together is a mix of Ibolya and Andy’s memoirs and memories of before and after the war. Ibolya died in 2005.
