Fela Yoskovitz was born in Lodz, Poland in 1921. Fela started the war in the Lodz ghetto before her and her family were deported to Auchwitz-Birkenau in August of 1944. Fela was then transported to Neuengamme concentration camp in Hamburg, Germany before finally ending up at Bergen-Belsen in April of 1945. However, she was liberated on April 15, 1945. Fela met her husband, Jacob, and the 2 of them immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1948. They raised 2 children together. In the 1960’s and 1970’s, Fela was president of Hadassah philanthropic organization. Before she died in 2020, Fela wrote Auschwitz which is part of Before All Memory Is Lost: Women’s Voices From The Holocaust.
