William Tannenzapf was born in Stanislawow, Poland in 1911. During the war in 1941, William and his wife gave birth to his daughter Renate. William gave Renate to a Polish family so that she could live and be safe. After the war, William, his wife and their daughter reunited and lived in a displaced persons camp in Germany. In 1948, they immigrated to Montreal, Canada. William worked at Westinghouse Electric in Hamilton where he had a successful career as an electrical engineer. He invented technologies and earned several patents before dying in 2011.
