Ida Dimant was born in Lodz, Poland in 1918. At the beginning of the war, Ida lived in the Lodz ghetto, where she married Abram Toter. However, they were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1944. After the war, Ida found her brother Nathan in Lodz, but discovered that her husband and the rest of her family had died. Soon after, Ida met her new husband Abraham Dimant and the 2 lived in the Bergen-Belson displaced persons camp before immigrating to Canada in 1948. She wrote her memoir, To My Daughters, which is a part of Before All Memory Is Lost: Women’s Voices from the Holocaust. Ida died in 1988.
