Gerta Solan was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1929. Ever since she was little, Gerta always had a passion for music. That passion and being surrounded by family was what got her through the Theresienstadt concentration camp and ghetto, which they were taken to in June of 1942. That was before she was seperated from her family and taken to Auschwitz-Birkenau. After being liberated, Gerta returned to Prague and she married Paul Seidner in 1949. After the Soviets occupied Prague in 1968, Gerta, her husband and their son immigrated to Toronto, Canada. In Toronto, Gerta worked with the Red Cross before retiring in 1995. Gerta and her husband then moved to Israel, which is where they live to this day.
