In Fragile Moments: The Last Time

Zsuzsanna Fischer was born in Tornyospalca, Hungary in 1925. Her story parallels with that of Eva Shainblum’s in that she also clung to her older sister in the camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau, where she was deported to in 1944. During her time, she made diary entries of what she was experiencing during the war. After the war, Zsuzsanna married Joseph Spiro, another Holocaust survivor. The 2 lived in Budapest with their 2 sons until 1956. They immigrated to Canada in 1957. Zsuzsanna documented much of her life in her diaries, before dying in 2016 in Canada.
